Graduation
My higher education journey has been a long road full of twists. I never dreamed that I would be graduating with a masters degree in ceramics. My major changed many times over the years while I tried things out to see what fit - not once did I think ceramics would grab on to me and not let go the way it did when I took that first class. It took a few years for me to catch on to the fact that I kept coming back to clay, but now I am here and it’s time to begin the next chapter in my clay journey.
The current body of work I am making is very exciting to me and I know I am on the right track. There is still experimentation with finishes and story that I have plans for, but it is all for pushing the work to bigger better places. There have been many bittersweet moments as I work to complete the last sculpture that I will make in my university studio space. Soon I will be packing up three years worth of memories and make the move to my next creative space.
My next stop is to work out of Summer Ave. Art & Clay. I will be teaching a sculpting class during June as well as working on a few designs that have been on the back burner for too long. It will be interesting to work in an environment that is not centered around grades and class requirements. I look forward to seeing what new ideas lead to in my future work.
