38th Annual Juried Student Exhibition
Another bittersweet moment has come. This will be the last Juried Student Exhibition that I can be a part of as a student with the University of Memphis. I am always excited for this show each year because I get to see the work being done in other parts of the department. There are students that I see on a regular basis in the clay studio but I don’t get to see their creative works very often. It is always a treat to see the amazing ways they work.
This years juror, Rehema Barber, visited us in our grad seminar class and offered us some amazing feedback on our recent works. Her talk during the awards ceremony was even better after having the opportunity to talk about art with her beforehand. Sadly there were some individuals who decided to try and ruin the talk and awards announcement by hacking into the meeting and trying to post offensive material. I am really proud of how they weren’t able to stop us and the afternoon was a success anyway. During the ceremony I was awarded a membership prize courtesy of the Metal Museum, for my piece ‘Till They Come Home, which I’m excited to put to use.
